Woman Accused Of Shoplifting $400 Worth Of Items From Marshalls

A Fairfield County woman with a warrant out for her arrest was taken into custody after allegedly shoplifting more than $400 worth of merchandise from Marshalls in Milford, police said.

Members of the Milford Police Department responded to Marshalls on Boston Post Road at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, where there was a report of a shoplifter who had been stopped by store employees.

The investigation into the alleged shoplifting incident led tot eh arrest of Bridgeport resident Beryl Brooks, 49, who allegedly stole the items from the store without paying.

Police said that further investigation into Brooks found that she had an active warrant out for her arrest that accused her of failing o appear in court on Friday, Sept. 13 due to a breach of peace arrest in Norwalk on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Brooks was arrested and charged with larceny and failure to appear. She is currently being held in lieu of $1,000 bond. No return court date has been announced.
